Everyone learns differently so the style of input and content varies from student to student to meet their individual needs. We use Rock School, Trinity Guildhall and other exam syllabuses as a teaching framework supplemented by rhythm cards, interactive games and play-a-long tracks chosen by the individual(s) to ensure a fun and creative learning environment. Sessions have clear learning aims and are flexible to allow further development opportunities and enable the learner to track their own progress.

We understand that there are many reasons for wanting to learn music and encourage everyone to give it a try and see. Whether you are seven or seventy, younger or older, it is never too early or late to learn and enjoy all that the world of music has to offer.

Colin has been teaching and supporting students for over twenty years in and around the Yorkshire Dales area. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player looking to improve your skills and technique, you can be assured of a friendly and enjoyable learning experience. Many of his students have successfully completed Rockschool graded exams and have gone on to study music at GCSE, A-level and University degree level. However, achieving grades is not the only reason to learn an instrument and lessons are tailored to meet individual goals such as, learning to sing or play along to your favourite songs or playing in a group.

Lessons can be delivered at the student's home, on-line using video (Skype or Google Hang-outs) or at Colin's own home-based teaching facilities if this is more convenient. Fees start from £15 for 30minutes and £30 for 60minutes (travel costs and learning resources may be additional). Instrument hire is available and expert advice is offered should you decide to purchase your own equipment.
